Good film, very well interpreted. The story is well supported by excellent actors, it should be noted the game of the brother which is great... A must see! I always leave time between 2 visions, because everything is put and so true! but also unfair! MHBA must buy, a edition beautiful, one of the greatest films in the history of Cinema with "Ben Hur" and "The Ten Commandments". As celebrities, costumes and scenery amazing. A pure happiness to savour on the big screen. For me, this movie is the most beautiful adaptation of the myth of Faust, simply because the characters are absolutely all human appearance. We are far here from the aspect of the demon of the great american productions. So amazing, and troubling, neither the Good nor the Evil are not actually presented in a fantastic or marvellous, or, on the contrary, demonic. The acts are human, the desires also. The devil offers the youth to Faust, not its renewed youth, but a new youth in order to live the life which he thinks to be past. It is the devil who has pity on the mortals, it is he who knows what is suffering, old age, at the door of death, with what that implies weakness and abandonment. Gérard Philipe shines in this film and gets to show us that the energy and physical beauty are also accompanied with a beauty, let's say, more intellectual. I highly recommend this DVD, a true counterpoint to the German versions of Faust and the devil, in which there is only the question of dream and of trade, of business kind.. Disappointed not to have, in the French version, the French-language closed captioning of the songs that are in VO.!!!!! while the film (cinema 35 mm.) is subtitled!!! a good plot, suspense and good actors. Even an old film recovered well on DVD. Too bad we do we will not return more often to the correct times on tv. Legendary Film, West Side Story has not until now been available only in DVD format within the definition of the original copy. The film, shot in 70mm - the HD format at the cinema, found on Blu-ray and thanks to the restoration, the gloss of its output on a giant screen : the viewing of this edition, to have the sensations in the cinema of the time (remember the Kinopanorama...). Only one downside : the original track of the time (6 tracks, already!) has been found from this re-release. Then a collector's ultimate future? In all cases, the current experience is already fabulous.... In my case I did not like this film. I find the portrait that we made of Mozart's ridiculous and grotesque, it verges on caricature. a staple of the westernwhat a beautiful movie for the time! Filmed with modesty(Jesus is never shown from the front) and very sensitive(a film speaking of the birth of christianity) ! Has recommend!!! I will not comment on the product itself, but warn that Wild Side, follows the out of this masterpiece remastered in the dining room, has announced the release of a Blu-Ray edition in November! So, this will be the full version of the film (over 3 hours) and Wild Side has announced an edition of the same kind as that of The night of the hunter, last year! Between this film and The gate of paradise, this autumn may be placed under the sign of the masterpieces FINALLY coming out in editions that are respectful of their status in the Z2.... This film is remarkable for several reasons.
